Business Intelligence / Data Warehousing

Decision Support Systems (DSS) are information systems that support decision-making activities, (often this is referred to as Business Intelligence - BI).  These systems serve the management, operations, and planning levels of an organization and require support from data warehousing specialists.  Often BI applications use data gathered from a data warehouse or a data mart.  A data warehouse is a repository of an organization's electronically stored data, designed to facilitate reporting and analysis.

Cistel’s Data Warehouse / BI Specialists (i.e. Data Conversion Specialists, DBAs, Database Analyst, IM Modellers, IM Architects, etc.) assist clients in designing the repository for the specific reporting purpose; designing and building the processes to extract, transform and load data into the repository; and customizing the tools to manage and retrieve the data and metadata.  There are different approaches to data warehouse design (for example, top-down versus bottom-up design methodologies).  Cistel Data Warehouse / BI Specialists will tailor the approach and method based on the client’s needs and reporting requirements.
